Empty Beer Can Raft?
My roommate and I are looking for a creative and pool-fun way of putting all our empty beer cans to good use. We are devising a plan to make a pool raft out of the empty cans. We need help with the logistics of this plan. There are few problems with this idea
1. How to seal the cans so water won't sink our hard work
2. How to bind the cans together
3. What size and how many cans to use (we need to create enough buoyancy to support one large drunk man)
4. How to create a pillow or headrest
If you help supply the ideas, we will certainly supply the cans.
P.S. We will be donating the tabs from the cans to help with cancer, so please help us have fun and cure cancer!
1/2. I would string the cans together end to end with a flexible cable then seal the seams with something like Gorilla Glue or some other water proof adhesive.
3. A sh#t load. I would make every other row one of those foam noodles.
4. Foam needles cut to length and then covered in split open cans with the tops and bottoms removed... with something covering the edges... those damn things are sharp.
EDIT:
The first person had a great point about filling them with foam. This would also help to prevent crushing of the cans. Don't know how expensive it would be however... good point. What about wrapping foam noodles or pipe insulation with cans? Cut out the bottoms and tops and then thread them onto the foam. At the ends you could leave just the bottom or just the top on to cap it.
